On Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 7 p.m., the City of Laguna Woods and the Laguna Woods African American Heritage Club will host a special reception at Laguna Woods City Hall to commemorate Black History Month. The reception will feature brief remarks from several prominent and trailblazing African American leaders in Orange County, including Ollie Darling Whitaker, a Laguna Woods resident and Orange County’s first African American K-12 teacher; Kathryn McCullough, Orange County’s first African American City Councilmember and Mayor; and, Reverend Mark E.
