Objective Design Standards

The City of Laguna Woods has adopted objective design standards for development projects that are intended to enhance Laguna Woods’ aesthetics, character, and sense of place, while also integrating Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (“CPTED”) standards.

Consistent with California Government Code sections 65913.4 and 66300(a)(7), the objective design standards involve no personal or subjective judgment by the City of Laguna Woods, are uniformly verifiable by reference to an external and uniform benchmark or criterion available, and are knowable by development applicants, project proponents, and the City of Laguna Woods before submittal.
